The article steps through how to install and configure the GlobalProtect VPN client on an iOS device for use with councils new Palo Alto firewall.
Connecting to councils VPN using this app allows staff to utilize corporate systems such as Authority on their iPhone or iPad.
1. Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad device
2. Click on the Search tab on the bottom of the screen to open the search area
3. Search for GlobalProtect in the search Bar and Download the GlobalProtect app that is by Palo Alto Networks and has the icon like the top one pictured below. Please Note: do NOT install GlobalProtect Legacy - this application is no longer supported by Palo Alto Networks.
5. Once downloaded, find and Open the app on your home screen.
6. PLEASE NOTE - From this step forward, you MUST disconnect from CHRC-Corporate and use Telstra 3G/4G for this to work.
In the Address field, enter: 203.39.10.242 then press Connect.
7. Click Allow, so that GlobalProtect app can make changes to your device.
NOTE: Your device may ask for your passcode. This is a safety measure by Apple, so please enter the passcode of your device so that GlobalProtect can make changes:
8. Click Tap to Connect.
9. Press Continue.
10. Enter your Computer Username and Computer Password, the press Sign In.
Congratulations, you are now connected to council's network.
You can now browse to council's web based systems such as Authority (https://chrcauth/iservice)
Available web applications are published in CHRC Apps Catalog on your council device.
11. When you are finished connecting to council's systems, open the GlobalProtect app and select Disconnect.
